Two Macedonian Y leaders spent the summer in US, as a result of the partnership between the local YCS YMCA Macedonia – Skopje and the Sommerset hills YMCA, New Jersey. They were trained and they worked as camp counselors in the camps which are organized every summer form the Sommerset hills Y. “This was the best summer ever” was the comment of one of the leaders. They also learned about the American culture, their way of living and they were especially amazed of the worm welcome offered by their American hosts and friends. Although they were working hard, they had plenty of free time to visit some of the most famous places, “We had a chance to visit 8 states in this wonderful country”. These two young and ambitious leaders of the Macedonian Y are among the many youngsters that are profiling the future image of our organization learning from the experience and practices of other more experienced Ys around the world. They are also the strong foundation of the partnership between the YMCA Macedonia – Skopje and the Sommerset hills YMCA that aims to unite the energy and enthusiasm, leadership and knowledge of young people across the Atlantic, and help their own communities and the young people world-wide. In future more of our members will have the chance to have their experience.
