| YCS YMCA through its Children Care programmes is acting towards improvement of the conditions and prospects of children in Macedonia, answering to their needs and promoting their growth and development. |
The Children Care Programme Group of YCS YMCA was coordinated the on-going programmes, and supporting the projects, activities and events in this field.
YCS YMCA provided organized continuous programmes for different social and age groups of children, offering them age and developmentally appropriate activities.
Through out our programmes and projects in 2006 we gave supported, worked with and included children from different primary schools in Skopje and Macedonia, from different ethnic and social backgrounds, and children from displaced families and social Centres in Macedonia.
A great importance for the development and rising of quality of the on-going programmes of the YMCA Children Care group had the opening of the new YMCA centre in Radishani.
Although YCS YMCA had a long-lasting cooperation with the centre in Radishani we were happy that finally in the second half of 2006 the Municipality of Butel and the State Agency for Youth and Sport have decided the YCS YMCA will be the best manager of the Youth Centre in Ragishani neighbourhood. |
The different target groups that the YMCA Centre in Radishani worked with in 2006 were:
Roma children in Radishani neighbourhood (group of 35 children), that were offered by our volunteers continuous after-school activities, for development of their creativity, and different social and cultural manifestations that will promote their integration in the society.
Children and young people from different social and ethnic origin in Radishani, mostly from families with social and economic problems. A mixed group of volunteers (local and international) volunteers of YCS YMCA and volunteers from other youth NGOs are coordinating the work of with this children group. The group have twice a week two hours of organized work of creativity, art and culture, and workshops for increasing the communication skills, exercises for intercultural learning and learning about different personal cultural back-grounds and identities. |
 |
The first meeting in the week children were offered programe where they can share their different traditions and identities but also to increase their skills and promote their creativity. This part of the programme is cold Arts and tradition and it includes drawing and painting, traditional games and folk dances from different ethnic and geographic groups, small craft products etc.
The second meeting cold Game session in a more informal and relaxed way will give the children opportunity to communicate among each other, make friends but also to increase their self-confidence and integration with the others. Through puppet theatre, children games for memorizing, increasing communication skills and relaxation, possibility for children to use the computers, the children will have a great session of fun and relaxation.
Different groups of Children from different primary schools and different parts of the city were attending the YMCA English Social Club. The different groups are learning the English language through games, but also they learn about different small and interesting things, about their friends- different children and young people from the city.
Due to the presence and active involvement of the work of children Care group of two international volunteers from France, YCS YMCA in the second half of the year started the new programme YMCA French Club, which is attended by a large group of children and young people from Skopje.
The EVS volunteer present in the work of YCS YMCA gave additional impulses in the work, especially of Children Care Programme Group and strengthen the human recourses and capability of this Programme team, which resulted with huge development in 2004. |
