Arts and Skills programme is aiming to promote the creativity, confidence, and competence of young people, equipping them with personal, social, and technical skills and offering meaningful ways and organized recreational and educational activities.

In 2006:
The Arts and Skills programme provided new opportunities for international experience of many young volunteers, cross-cultural exchanges, intercultural learning and gave young people new stimulus and feedback on their artistic pursuits. The work in 2005, strengthen the capacity of the new teams in different fields of work of this programme group and including some well-trained leaders, the programme reach a wide audit and provide quality programme for many children and young people. |
The different groups:
The TenSing group of our YMCA is one of the oldest and most sustained groups in our YMCA. Although, as it was in the previous years, also this year we had some changes in the leaders’ and volunteers’ team, this group was constantly working every Wednesday in the week during the whole year with a constant number of over 20 volunteers. The group is performing YMCA TenSing songs, but it was more focused this year on traditional Macedonian songs. In the year 2006, the TenSing group made huge successes in the work with children groups, and performing together with the theatre group promoted our YMCA and Macedonia on more international and bigger evens. |

During the period of 2006, the theatre section has done several activities in the field of drama work and theatre performances.
This group worked on a script which has been a product of more of the theatre members, a script which they put as segment of a play on the youth art festival in Bitola. The coordinator of the group was Snezana Gjorgjieva, who gave the idea for the drama. The work of the script will continue in the year 2007.
At the same time Bojan Kirkovski was leading course of pantomime and body-movement theatre course with several members of our group. The course included short lectures about the ancient drama, medieval drama, classic drama and modern drama. These lectures were coordinated and leaded by Dusko Krstevski.
The work of the Arts and Skills group was supporting the Children Care progremmes during the year and, with quality artistic, designing and music facilitation and the bigger events that YMCA took part in partnering or networking with different organizations and institutions.
The theater and TenSing groups of 13 members was the main part of the big European performance Bridges of Vardar, on the youth Art festival Bitola Open City - in Bitola, and with their professional multimedia performance, based on different European traditions and ethno music reached the hearts and provoked the applause of thousands of young people gathered in Bitola.The project Bridges of Vardar was not just an artistic challenge for YMCA art groups, but also an unique educational and intercultural journey, that enrich the characters and lives of the young people. through bringing together in Bitola, 60 young people from different parts of Europe - Croatia, Macedonia, Portugal and Sweden, Spain and Poland and manifesting their talents and cultures through a palette of artistic activities, the YMCA Art group gave a tribute to the European cultural heritage and tradition, in the same time preparing an unforgettable social experience for the local community. |
